Whenever I meet new people (something I've been doing a lot lately), one of the natural questions is, "So where are you from?" If I've lived in one place for a while (3 years or more), I take the easy way out and just say "here". But when I'm new, I never really know what to say. I usually just hesitate, and if Mike is with me we look at each other and laugh, and then I say, well, my Dad was in the Navy...
You might notice, I added to the subtitle above, so that now it reflects ALL of my journey through life, instead of just my married life. It looks worse than it is; I lived in Virginia 5 years, Arkansas a total of 10, and Idaho 12. And most of the time I'm thankful for the varied experiences I've had, and definitely for the people I've been able to know. I'm reading a light (silly) book for fun right now called True Valor, by Dee Henderson, which actually has one pretty good quote in it. The Air Force character says, "The military teaches you not to get attached to the place or the thing but the people." I liked that. I admit I do have to fight the tendency to protect myself by not letting friendships get too deep, especially when I know a move is coming up, but thanks to email, cell phones, and blogs, I don't even need to do that anymore; the world is much smaller than it used to be. I'm rambling, but I think what I really want to say is this: I don't know where I'm from, but thank God I know where I'm going. In the words of the old country gospel song, "This world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through!" I'm so glad we're passing through it together.
"For we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come. Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name." Hebrews 18:14-15

Hey Kecia! So great to hear from you!! We continue to pray for you guys!!!
We had the opportunity to visit with Wedgwood's pastor this afternoon...he asked how we heard of the church and we mentioned you guys among others. He was very complimentary of you guys and even mentioned your dad and what a blessing it was to have him in worship with his 'Amens'. We appreciated hearing that and thought you would too! Love you guys!!
Hey back! I love Bro. Al. :) Did you go to church there last Sunday? We started AWANA at our new church last night...J & M seem to be getting happier. PTL. Praying for you--
I praise Jesus that He brought both of us to Moscow, ID for a time so that our paths would cross. You are such a blessing...a true friend and mentor!!
You know I too have trouble with this question. And dang it my kids will have that problem too! Luke is the only one born on this continent but he's still changed countries. He likes to tell people he is African-American.
love you
Oh I love Brother Al from Wedgwood too. Thanks for that good memory! I used to love how he'd just break into song during his sermons. Love that guy!
So are you guys going to FBC or CBC in Magnolia? My guess is FBC since it's SBC. LOVE all these abbreviations.
My very good friend from Magnolia called me last night but we were gone. I hope to call her back this weekend and I'll tell her to be really nice to you if your paths cross. *smile*
And, I so relate to living many places. Does it ever start to run together in your head like it does in mine?
Have a GREAT weekend!
Meredith
We joined CBC. CBC and IBC are both SBC. FBC is BMA. BTW, do you watch NFL on ESPN? Or the SEC on ABC? Don't go AWOL! LOL KSS
I know what you mean, girl! My "where are you from" answer takes about 15 minutes. By the time I finish telling the questioner, they wish they'd never asked! Ha!
I don't even think 1 comment answered the "where are you from?" question...so I won't either. Ha ha. Anonymity is running DEEP in my life right now. :-)
