Things My Mama Taught Me

Angie tagged me to tell "Things My Mama Taught Me." I loved reading her list, and agreed with so many things, I thought it might be hard to come up with some she didn't say! But I managed. :)
1. Home is wherever we are together...whether it's our car, an apartment, small house or large, home is US, not a place.
2. Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver and the other's gold. (The song and the philosophy)
3. Be ye kind, one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Too-too, toodlydoo. Ephesians 4:32
4. You can always come home, no matter what you've done.
5. Make your bed every day.
6. If there's a place for everything and everything is in it's place, you'll know where to find things when you need them. (Like my digital camera, which I can't seem to find ANYWHERE!)
7. Praise your husband in public, but never criticize him.
8. You should never outgrow holding hands, sitting on laps, and playing with kids.
9. The joy of reading
10. Wear lipstick when you leave the house. (I'm not very good at this one, even if I have moved back to the South.)
11. First impressions are important. At the same time, appearances can be deceiving!
12. Hospitality is making people comfortable in your home, not making yourself look good.
13. Thank your father. (And your Father.)
14. God's Word is true; it holds the answers; spend time in it every day.
15. You don't have to scrape all the batter out of the bowl. :)
16. It's fun to sing harmony.
17. When you're cooking, clean up as you go.
18. When you're new, look for someone else by themselves. Or sit in the middle of a row...that way you meet someone on either side of you. And try to ask about them as much as, if not more than, you talk about yourself.
19. When someone pops into your mind and you don't know why, pray for them.
20. Never go to bed angry.

As Angie said, there's so much more I could say. I love my Mama, too!

I'm also thankful that God puts other Christian women in my life for me to learn from. Yesterday Angela Thomas came to little ol' Magnolia for a women's conference at First Baptist. I enjoyed her SO MUCH. Here are a few things I took away from it.
1. God isn't mad at me for needing a Savior. He knew I would and created me anyway.
2. God calls me beautiful, and is wildly and eternally in love with me.
3. God puts little tastes of His love in my life through my dad, husband, kids...but only He can make me whole. Don't turn it upside-down.

When I grow up, I want to be just like your Mom! Sounds like a wise lady of God--you are blessed to have such good teaching, Kecia.

Have a wonderful week in the Lord, friend!
