15 years ago yesterday, I married my sweet husband. I am so blessed to have him. We spent last night in Hot Springs to celebrate, and exchanged cards in our room at our bed and breakfast. When we pulled them out, both envelopes were light blue, and I said, "Wouldn't it be funny if we got each other the same card?" Guess what--we did! And it was funny!
Mike had never been to Hot Springs, so we went down to Bathhouse Row, walked the Promenade, toured the Fordyce bathhouse, drove up the mountain and rode the elevator to the top of the tower. It was a beautiful day.
We ate supper at a steak restaurant with a waitress named Moe, who was apparently famous (according to the newspaper/magazine articles and graffiti on the walls of our booth) for good, fun service. Well, she was a little slow for us, but definitely...original! When she asked what we'd like to drink, I asked for a diet Coke. She looked at me funny, repeated it, then asked, "Are you a diabetic? Because I really don't want you to drink a diet Coke. It has wood alcohol in it. It's gonna give you brain cancer..." as she walked off with our order. She brought me the diet Coke, but I still overheard her tell someone else about me! When she came to take our food order, Mike had questions about the menu. She asked him if he liked asparagus, and when he said no she said, "S _ _ _, you're up a creek. How about ..." That was rather unusual. To say the least. When she brought our food she said, "So are you two kids newlyweds?" I said, "Yep, 15 years today." So she turned around and announced it to the whole restaurant! Then after our meal she brought us free chocolate cake with a "15" written on it in frosting, so that pretty much made up for everything. :)
Our bed and breakfast was on the lake, with beautiful landscaping and a hammock, so after supper we watched the stars come out. It was very tranquil. (There's a word you don't get to use very often.)
This morning we had a lovely breakfast then shopped a few antique stores (window shopped, I should say), read the plaque thingies on the Arkansas walk of fame (Point of Grace has one!), then ate BBQ at a supposedly famous place, which we did not enjoy, then ice cream at Scoop's which we loved. Then we came on home, and re-entered the real world. It was a great anniversary.

Kecia,
Don't you know it's sinful to live in Arkansas and NOT LIKE McLard's BBQ??? (assuming that's where you went of course!)
Hot Springs holds so many good memories for me. John and I used to go on dates there, and overnight getaways as much as we could when we lived in Arkadelphia.
Our MOST favorite place to eat there is the Faded Rose. Where did you go for steak??
Congrats on 15 years. I'm happy for you guys.
Love,
Meredith
I totally forgot to tell you Happy Anniversary on the phone! So....Happy Anniversary - late.
I love Hot Springs. I hope Charlie and I get up there before August. I'm glad you guys had that little getaway.
