8 on the 8th...barely...because I can

Last week I was working on school with Rebecca when Mikayla, who was supposedly doing chores, came in and said, "Mom, I think the vacuum cleaner is fried. I smell smoke."
I just put my head in my hands and breathed for a minute or two.
Why such a drastic reaction? Last straw.
Here are 8 things that have broken in our house in the last 6 months or so:
1. Dishwasher
2. Toilet
3. Hot water heater
4. Bread machine
5. Crock pot
6. TV
7. Waffle iron
8. My (sob) laptop

The vacuum cleaner, thankfully, just needed the hair of 4 women cut off the rollers and is now working fine. The dishwasher replacement is great because it's from this millenium, which is a nice change. And the toilet is awesome! It has separate flushes for #1 and #2. Seriously! Should save us some moolah on the water bill. The crock pots were pretty cheap because of our college town's back-to-school promotion, and the TV was able to be fixed. And even my laptop isn't the tragedy it could be, because we had some hand-me-down laptops we can use for school. I'm sad about the videos I should have saved somewhere safe and didn't, but I'm hoping our local computer doctor can find them for me when I get my replacement--which Mike ordered today! :) HP called him with a "deal"--sort of. So of course they're just things, and of course I'm thankful for that and that God always provides...but I sure hope this season is coming to an end!!

Oh, you poor thing. I hate it when I have days (or weeks) like that. Mine usually aren't about things breaking, but rather about twenty million things being spilled, or my forgetting to do things, or burning things, or so on. Either way, it stinks. I'm glad your house is on the mend! =)

I'm experiencing the same thing but with my car. In the last six months or so this is what has broken (or gotten worse):

cruise control, turn signals, wiper washer reservoir, gear shift button, stereo button, side window control button, and passenger window (still duck taped). UGH.

I also feel your pain with the vacuum. I've had to cut my hair from the roller many times too. ICK
