I'm in Pickle's Gap this weekend, visiting my Mom (and painting the pink and yellow bedrooms in the house we're trying to sell...now they're beige). We were going through a box of my Dad's things, and I found my Mom's "happy list"! Actually, she titled it "Things I Love," and it's a great list. Just reading it makes me happy. Read it and see if you agree!
Red roses, one at a time
Violets in the yard in spring
Babies' wet mouths
The back of a little boy's neck when he's just had a hair cut
Watching Tom shave
Watching Tom sleep
Watching Tom read his Bible
Watching Kecia put on her make-up
Seeing Mark in church with his children
Hearing Matt preach
Coconut cream pie
Hot coffee
Apple pancakes and sausage on a cool morning
Cutting wood for winter
The crunch of leaves under your feet in the woods
Fall
Baking Christmas goodies
Old things--antique or not
Having a crowd at the dinner table
Green
Diamonds
Christmas
When my son's wives call me "Mom"
When I'm thin! (groan)
A fire in the fireplace

Wow-
How cool is that Kecia!
amie--ps--I'm addicted to your blog!
what a blessing to find this!
(thanks for the reminder to keep praying about your house)
I'm crying, Kec. I love your Mom and I love your Dad and their love for each other. I can't imagine how your mom has lived these 6 years without getting to watch him shave and sleep. I want to make my own happy list. Her list just reminded me of all I have to be thankful for and all that I have taken for granted. Shame on me.
PLEASE give your mom a huge hug from me and tell her I love her and can't wait to see her next year! And tell her that I remember the way she and your dad would hold hands in church and I would always think that I want to always hold hands with Charlie like that.
I don't know why my comment came up as annonymous. Weird. But it was from me.
angie
p.s. 6 months till I see you!!! Wanta come to the airport in Shreveport????? I think that's where we'll fly into.
That does make me happy! What a treat to find it!
