A Thankful Night

Tonight I attended my 2nd of 5 Thanksgiving feasts this year. The first was yesterday noon with our home school coop. They made caps and headdresses and put on an impromptu play which was very cute and enjoyable. Especially since Mikayla's lines were usually, "Ewww, eels (or fish, or clams) are slimy." She's so funny.
But tonight was with the BCM, and it was incredible. We had over 30 students there, and after the drama team did a skit and Wesley, Austin, and Tyler led us in some songs (they rock) we opened the floor for testimonies. We have such a quiet group, overall, that Mike and I weren't sure what to expect. Wow. Students didn't just share, they opened up their hearts. The theme of the night was how the BCM is a family, and how thankful everyone is for everyone else. Several shared about struggles they've had or tragedies they've gone through, and how we were all there for each other. It was very touching. At the end Mike got up and pointed out that this has been an awesome semester...and how we've been under attack. Then he called Wesley, who lost his dad, Austin, who lost his mom, and Andre, who lost his brother, and we laid hands on them and prayed for them and for all the students. I don't have words for a moment like that. But I am so thankful.

what a wonderful and wholesome event with the BCM. i'm very glad for it. it is so rewarding when others open up and become transparent.

Don't you love those moments with your kids? Our church camp this year was kind of like that. It makes all the other times when you want to wring their necks worth it.
