Good-bye, Summer!

This summer was sooo hot...(how hot was it?)
  • Rebecca played outside Saturday morning, for the first time in Idon'tknowhowlong. When she came in, she came to me with a look of amazement on her face and said, "I played outside all morning! I swung on the swings, jumped on the trampoline, laid in the hammock, and I didn't even sweat!" Yay!
  • In a typical summer, this area has 8 days with 100+ degree temperatures. This summer: 59. (So far)
  • We've also only had about an inch and a half of rain since May. Note: we are, of course, right next to Texas--please pray for their fires to end! Bastrop County, which has lost almost 1400 homes to fire as of today, is where Mike's family lived on 20 acres when we first got married. He loved that land.
  • I had animals in my house. (I HATE having animals in the house.) Granted, they were adorable, newborn puppies and they stayed in my humongous-laundry-room-which-I-love, but still. I let them stay in for 5 weeks, until the mercury dropped below the century mark. (Looky--aren't they cute!)

But the mercury DID drop! Tropical storm Lee didn't bring us any rain, but it did bring us 70s and 80s, and really cool nights! And then Labor Day came, and so did my Mom and Charlie and Angie and their 4 wonderful kids + Coleson's roommate. We ate, we talked, we wiied, we even played croquet--Angie loved that. ;) (And I WON) Just look at all the fun we had.
"Angie, take me home!"

Fall may not officially start for another 2 weeks, but I for one am ready to bid summer good-bye!

Thanks, y'all--and it's getting easier all the time to let the puppies go. They've started to cry/whine LOUDLY!

And girl, you sent the heat our way! Okay, it's not quite 100, but still. Could you take it back?! My kids classrooms are HOT!
