I like to participate in 10 on the 10th whenever I happen to remember that it IS the 10th, so when I realized it last night, I started thinking about possible topics. September is a tricky month for me. With tomorrow being the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, and Thursday being the 12th anniversary of the Wedgwood shooting, and my Dad's birthday at the end of the month, I could easily get depressed/ing. I considered listing 10 traumatic moments that are forever etched in my brain, or 10 sad September memories. Obviously, by my previous posts, I do think remembering and memorializing is important, and it is definitely a way I process emotions. But I can almost hear my Dad's voice saying, "Remember what you know!" So here are 10 things I KNOW.
1. God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1
2. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
3. From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the foe. Psalm 62:2-4
4. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:17-19
5. ...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
6. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17
7. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 24:18
8. For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5
9. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:3-5
10. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body...2 Corinthians 4:8-10

Thanks, for the 10!
Oh Kecia, thank you for these 10 things.
Love this...and I love the phrase "Remember what you know." I will remember that!
What a neat list - thank you! I especially like number 7. I remember Beth Moore saying this presupposes that our hearts will be broken at times. But He is always there.
Such beautiful words of comfort. Thanks, Kecia.
I read the post you wrote about your dad. What a wonderful guy! I wonder if he and my dad have met up yet. I think they'd enjoy one another's company.
Thank you for these truths! I was just telling my husband how I find such encouragement/comfort/uplifting whenever friends of mine post scriptures on FB or their blogs, and I was telling him that my mission on FB should be to share scriptures more often as status updates...thanks for doing this and being such an encouragement during a tough time of remembrance (especially for you).
Thank YOU, everyone, for your encouraging words. Cathie, God IS always there, isn't He! And Amy, I love thinking that our dads have met up in heaven, talking and laughing together. :) Someday-
