Roller Coaster
By: Mikayla Sandusky
The chatter in the line of the Rockin’ Roller Coaster was loud,
Very loud.
I was excited,
But more nervous.
When we finally got into our car my palms were sweaty.
I closed my eyes and we were off!
Slowly at first,
then faster and faster.
I opened my eyes for a second,
And closed them tight
GIANT DOUGHNUT!!!
Then I was upside downCORKSCREW!!!
It started getting slower and slower.
Then we stopped.
“my eyes were closed the whole time!” I told my mom.
She made me try again
With my eyes open,
I loved it!

Feathered HatBy: Mikayla Sandusky

There once was an old lady named Pat
Who had a big old feathered hat.
She vacuumed the rug
With a pull and a tug.
And her big feathered hat went splat!
The Hunger Games
By: Mikayla Sandusky

There once was a girl named Katniss
Whose life was filled with sadness.
She joined in the fight,
With a will and a might
And came home with Peeta and gladness!

Thanks for my mother

When I was a little girl, my mom was my role model. I always said that when I grew up I either wanted to be an archaeologist or a mommy. :) I played dolls and house all the time, and she would play with me sometimes. She also taught me to read and to appreciate the beauty of nature and to write thank-you notes and to sing alto.

When I was a college student and young single, my mom was my confidante. When stupid boys/men-who-acted-like-boys would break my heart, I would call her and cry and she would comfort me and encourage me and sing, "Cheer up ye saints of God." And I always knew she was praying for me.

Today, my mom is my friend. We talk on the phone almost every day, telling each other things big and small. I hope that in her lonely times, I comfort and encourage her. We're always praying for each other.

I'm so very thankful to have her. I love you, Mama! Happy Mother's Day!

Birthday #4, Part 2

I started writing this post April 10. APRIL 10!!! Sigh. I was hoping to post "10 things that have been keeping me too busy to read or write blog posts," but this is as far as I got. So I'm changing the title and pushing "publish."
My baby officially turned 8! Her birthday cake request was angel food with strawberries and whipped cream (mmm).

And her birthday celebration fell on a Wednesday night, which was busy with church activities, so we actually just fixed her birthday meal request this week, over a month later. Mike smoked baby back ribs, and ohmygoodness, they were melt in your mouth, fall off the bone good. She's got good taste.
