Sooo...a week and a half ago, when we got back from Siloam Springs/Joyworks, everyone was eager to find Precious to see if she'd had her kittens. Jessica was the first to see her, and she yelled, "Mommy! Daddy! Precious is skinny!! She had her kittens!!" At which point much squealing and jumping ensued. We ordered the little girls to stay in the house and went to look under the shed, where Precious had disappeared. Sure enough, she had hollowed out a little nest, and I could see little fur balls in it! So Mike held Precious and I felt around and picked up four tiny kittens and put them in a box we had filled with old clothes and towels cut into strips. I didn't see any more, but I thought I should feel around to make sure...when I did, I felt something round and furry...and stiff and cold. I thought, "Oh, no, one is dead. And I just touched it!" So I rolled it with a stick until I could see it and---it was a Care Bear the girls had given Precious! Phew! So we took Precious and the kittens into the house, in the lovely box we had fixed up for them, and she immediately began taking them out of the lovely box and looking for somewhere else to put them--my closet, under my bed, under the couch. We kept following her saying, "No, not there!" until finally Jessica remembered how she always loves sleeping in the plastic drawer we use for dress-up clothes. She was okay in there for a while, and was even better when we put it in a dark, secluded coat closet. So I was surprised when she went to the back door and meowed, wanting out. I wondered if maybe I had missed a kitten, so I let her out and watched to see where she'd go. Sure enough, she went straight under the shed and came out carrying: a stuffed pink poodle! It was hilarious. She went out again and brought back a little Pooh bear toy, but we drew the line when she started bringing in pine cones. You see, boys and girls, this is what happens when kids are having kids. She's still a kitten herself.
The babies are doing fine; growing, but eyes are still closed. I'm ready for them to be up and walking around!

We loved the way this fat dude was sleeping, but the blackest one is our favorite.

Those are too cute! But if Precious is still a kitten, shouldn't this be a message about teen pregnancy?
