Would you like some lemonade? $1 a cup!
Jessica's friend Emily, from Conway, Arkansas, is having a virtual lemonade stand to raise money for the hungry people of Kenya. She set a goal of raising $1,000 and reached that goal in one week! Now she has set the goal at $8,000. She has raised $3,000 so far so if you want to buy some lemonade I am sure she would appreiciate it. Go here to learn more, or just follow these directions from Emily:
If you would like to send $1 (or any other size donation), please send it to:
Emily's Lemonade Stand, 194 Old Military Road, Conway, AR 72034
If you include a self-addressed stamped envelope, I will mail you a bookmark about Kipsongo that my brother and I made.
If you write a check, make it payable to "Seeds Ministry" and it will be tax deductible.

Good news/bad news and 2 requests
The good news is: my Mom found my camera! It was at her house, under (how embarrassing) "our" bed. How old am I, 12?
The bad news is: we weren't able to get it before Mikayla's luau birthday party. I did take pictures with a disposable camera, so we'll see what we can do!
My first request is for prayer. Passion is this weekend, and Mike is taking a good group of students, so be in prayer for them. But also, some other young people who are going are hoping to witness to someone who once professed to know the Lord but is now living a life of sin, and has been for over 6 years. Please, please, even if it's only while you read this post, pray that this person's eyes will be opened, strongholds torn down, Satan's forces bound, and that this person will repent and return to the Lord (or come to know Him). Also pray for protection for these young people, and wisdom and power beyond themselves.
Request #2 is just for fun! We had a BCM Valentine banquet tonight, and our speaker shared some of the story of how he and his wife met and got together. I thought about how Mer had shared her story, and how these stories are some of my favorites to listen to. So, in honor of Valentine's Day, I'm asking all my blogging friends to post their romance story, or leave it as a comment. How did you and your husband meet, court, and git hitched?

8 years ago today...
...Mikayla joined our family!
It was 3 days past her due date, and our doctor (who was also a friend of ours) decided to induce. We'd been at the hospital since that morning, and at 1:30 I didn't feel like I was in any pain, but was all shaky and emotional, so they went ahead and gave me an epidural. The hospital there gave a one-time dose instead of a continual drip, and the anesthetist had to come back to give more if it ran out. And mine always ran out exactly 2 hours later. Well, the dr (Herb) came and checked on me around 3:15, said I was dilated to a 4. Mike asked him if he thought he had time to take Jessica to a different babysitter (the first one had to go to class) and feed the dog, and Herb said, "Oh, yeah, you should have plenty of time." Ha. The minute Mike and Herb walked out the door, I started hurting. I told the nurse I needed more epidural, and she picked up the phone to call it in, then decided she better check things first...she told me it was time to push!!! I was on the verge of tears, saying, "I can't, Mike's not here," but she said I had to. I got my Mom to stay with me, and they found Herb. He walked in rolling up his sleeves saying, "Mike's gonna kill me." I started pushing, and 10 minutes later, when little Miss Mikayla was almost all the way here, Mike walked in. He looked at me and Mom and said, "What are you doing?!" I glared at him and said, "I'm having a baby!" He ran over saying, "Push, push" but Herb calmly said, "No, just breathe for a second..." 5 minutes later, at 4:08, she was born! Mikayla Mae, blond hair, blue eyes, quiet (that didn't last long) and absolutely beautiful. Today she keeps us quite entertained--more on that when she's not looking over my shoulder waiting for her turn on the computer! Happy Birthday, Mikayla! :)

We're okay...
...but please pray for those who lost loved ones, homes, and businesses in the tornadoes yesterday.

Things My Mama Taught Me
Angie tagged me to tell "Things My Mama Taught Me." I loved reading her list, and agreed with so many things, I thought it might be hard to come up with some she didn't say! But I managed. :)
1. Home is wherever we are together...whether it's our car, an apartment, small house or large, home is US, not a place.
2. Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver and the other's gold. (The song and the philosophy)
3. Be ye kind, one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Too-too, toodlydoo. Ephesians 4:32
4. You can always come home, no matter what you've done.
5. Make your bed every day.
6. If there's a place for everything and everything is in it's place, you'll know where to find things when you need them. (Like my digital camera, which I can't seem to find ANYWHERE!)
7. Praise your husband in public, but never criticize him.
8. You should never outgrow holding hands, sitting on laps, and playing with kids.
9. The joy of reading
10. Wear lipstick when you leave the house. (I'm not very good at this one, even if I have moved back to the South.)
11. First impressions are important. At the same time, appearances can be deceiving!
12. Hospitality is making people comfortable in your home, not making yourself look good.
13. Thank your father. (And your Father.)
14. God's Word is true; it holds the answers; spend time in it every day.
15. You don't have to scrape all the batter out of the bowl. :)
16. It's fun to sing harmony.
17. When you're cooking, clean up as you go.
18. When you're new, look for someone else by themselves. Or sit in the middle of a row...that way you meet someone on either side of you. And try to ask about them as much as, if not more than, you talk about yourself.
19. When someone pops into your mind and you don't know why, pray for them.
20. Never go to bed angry.
As Angie said, there's so much more I could say. I love my Mama, too!
I'm also thankful that God puts other Christian women in my life for me to learn from. Yesterday Angela Thomas came to little ol' Magnolia for a women's conference at First Baptist. I enjoyed her SO MUCH. Here are a few things I took away from it.
1. God isn't mad at me for needing a Savior. He knew I would and created me anyway.
2. God calls me beautiful, and is wildly and eternally in love with me.
3. God puts little tastes of His love in my life through my dad, husband, kids...but only He can make me whole. Don't turn it upside-down.

Oh well...
Tonight Mikayla was looking through a box of old pictures of mine, asking who they were and what we were doing. When she (ahem) discovered a recurring theme, she said, "Man, you had a lot of boyfriends." (I didn't really.) I said, trying to be pious and set a good example for the future, "Yeah, I know, it's kind of embarrassing. But eventually I realized that I didn't need a boyfriend to be happy." Jessica: "Nope, just a husband." :)
